Vitebsk Oblast to sign cooperation agreement with Russia's Kursk Oblast at Forum of Regions
Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and Kursk Oblast Administration of Kursk are set to sign an agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, science, social and cultural affairs during the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned from the economy committee of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee.
The Vitebsk Oblast delegation to be led by Governor Nikolai Sherstnev will include heads of the representative and executive authorities, educational and cultural institutions, enterprises and organizations.
Kursk Oblast will become the 25th entity of the Russian Federation with which Vitebsk Oblast will sign the cooperation agreement. This approach enables to fully realize the potential of cooperation, helps organize business visits of industrialists to Russian regions, and contributes to the development of humanitarian contacts.
In addition to strengthening interregional ties the Vitebsk Oblast delegation plans to pay special attention to the interaction of business communities and also trade and economic cooperation. Companies and organizations are planning to conclude more than 30 contracts worth about $46 million. Food industry companies affiliated with the Vitebsk Concern Meat and Dairy Products are set to harness the opportunities provided by the Forum of Regions, find new partners and expand their presence in the Russian market. So do Polotsk-Steklovolokno, Belwest, Orsha Linen Mill, and other manufacturers.
The Forum of Regions will be held in St. Petersburg on 16-18 July. A plenary session will be traditionally its central event which is expected to be attended by the presidents of Belarus and Russia. This year the forum will highlight interregional relations as a basis for the development of the single cultural and humanitarian space of Belarus and Russia.
